I have spent more than twenty-five years working in the software industry. Over that time, I watched the tech landscape shift from ownership to perpetual renting. Today, the world of owning your tools is slowly being eroded by an endless parade of monthly subscriptions, while corporate software quietly tracks everything you do.
That is why Ludditious exists.
My work is primarily focused on creating free software designed to help people manage other systems and applications. A major part of that effort involves building open-source tools, scripts, and applications aimed at removing telemetry and stopping software from spying on its users. I am trying my best to support the free, open-source community and give the average person a fighting chance against subscription fatigue.
Do I charge for this?
Currently, I do not charge anything for my software.
If that ever changes down the line for specific applications, I operate by a strict rule: I will never charge for things I have already created and given away for free. I’ve seen that enshittification too many times. I do not believe in pulling the rug out from under people who rely on a tool. And if I ever do charge for a new project, it will follow a simple principle, you buy it once, and you own it for life. No recurring fees, no hostage software, a simple BS-free life.
